Hey everyone…I wanted to get this blog started by talking about my personal journey over the last month to lose weight and get in shape.
LOSE WEIGHT?? GET IN SHAPE??? DON’T YOU OWN A GYM???
These are questions I routinely get asked. People are constantly surprised when they find out that I own a CrossFit gym because I am not ripped and I do not have a 6-pack set of abs. I am like most people. I have a full-time job, I am in school, and I help my business partners and staff run a CrossFit gym…there is very little time to fit in going to the gym and meal prepping. But that should not be an excuse. While I am not particularly concerned about having a six-pack, I am concerned about chronic disease, being able to live well during my retirement years and being able to enjoy time with my friends and family for as long as possible. THIS is why I have decided and made the commitment to eat better and be more consistent at the gym.
My journey to develop better eating habits has been going well so far. I have been consistently hitting my macro numbers over the last twenty days and it has really paid off. My pants are fitting more loose and I have lost 10 lbs. What I really struggle with is making it to the gym 3-4 times per week to workout. This is hard for me because, between school and my job as a paramedic, I am working 70-80 hour work-weeks. I tired. But I know that in order to meet my goal of 30 lbs down by graduation in August 2018, I have to start going to the gym consistently 3-4 times per week.
What did I mean by WEEKEND WARRIOR?
I’m not making fun of anyone using this term. What I am trying to do is say that we (everyone that is trying to do something similar) have to be WARRIORS on the WEEKEND. We have to buckle down and resist drinking 2-3-4-10 beers over the course of three days. We have to resist eating BBQ for lunch and grilling double cheeseburgers for dinner on Saturday. As much as I love to eat, I have to come to realize that all of my hard work during the week with meal prepping, counting carbs/fat/protein, and eating home instead of eating out…IT DOESN’T MATTER….if I am not a WARRIOR on the WEEKEND. Stay strong. Work hard. And get results.
See you in the gym…
